Frequently Asked Questions
How can I become a driving instructor?
You will first need to be sponsored by a driving school. This involves a driving school taking you under its wing during your training and internship, in other words, until you have obtained your instructor’s card.
The driving school that agrees to mentor you in this way will enrol you in a class for instructors or teachers. This training comprises a theoretical component as well as a practical phase where learners can observe and teach while supervised.
Once you’ve completed all of the required training and passed all tests, you can teach students in the capacity of an instructor or a teacher.
What is the difference between an instructor and a teacher?
An instructor teaches the practical sessions, namely road sessions, while a teacher gives online or classroom courses.
How can a person enroll for this training?
Go to the tab Service to driving school and click on Teacher training. A schedule of all upcoming training sessions is included in this section. Click on the training of your choice to enrol. Training is offered online, i.e., by videoconference (Zoom) with a teacher.
What criteria must a driving school meet to have access to online learning and training materials?
None. The learning materials and teacher training information are available to all driving schools recognized by the AQTr (Association québécoise des transports).
