Driving lesson requirements and steps

A class 5 (automobile) driver’s licence is required to drive a three-wheeled motorcycle.

First step

3 hours of theoretical courses (required before being able to proceed with the practical training)

Second step

4 hours of practice (2 hours of practice on a closed-circuit and 2 hours of road/highway practice)

Third step

Obtaining a certificate of completion (note of Passed) of the three-wheeled motorcycle course from a driving school

Fourth step

Once all of the required training is successfully completed, a certificate of course completion must be submitted to the SAAQ in order to have the class 6E added to your driver’s licence.

Do you have a motorcycle licence (class 6A)?

Drivers with a motorcycle licence (class 6A) are allowed to drive a three-wheeled motorcycle.

Driving outside of Québec

If you’re planning to drive your three-wheeled motorcycle outside of Québec, you must check to ensure that your class 6E licence is valid in the regions where you will be travelling.
